This is the second team-work of the Novo-Tikhvinsky monastery and the Ural society of the lovers of natural history (whose successor is the Local History museum). In 1887 in Ekaterinburg Siberian-Ural scientific-industrial exhibition took place where at the factory's department, the manufacture from Novo-Tikhvinsky monastery was represented: the models of worsted and silk embroidery pieces, church "candles of beeswax," "needlework of gold-embroidery" decorated with glass beads and worsted embroidery.

The exposition has been prepared together by the sisters of Novo-Tikhvinsky women's monastery and Sverdlovsk Regional museum of Local History with participation of the Government archives of Sverdlovsky district and Ekataterinburg museum of fine arts.

At the exhibition extensively represented are the miraculously preserved historical displays: archival documents, photographs, authentic belongings of the former sisters of the abode, the manufacture from the monastery's workshops. A unique selection of historical materials has been collected about the last abbess of the monastery in the pre-prevolutionary period: abbess Magdalina (Dosmanova). For the first time in the past decades there will be an opportunity to see the vestments of mother Magdalina and her private belongings that were carefully preserved by her successors and have been recently given over to the restored monastery. Partly reconstructed is the interior of a monastery's cell. The majority of the displays are from the archives of Novo-Tikhvinsky monastery.

The inauguration was attended by the chief Federal inspector over Sverdlovsk district - Viktor Baydukov; councillor of the Chairman of the chamber of Representatives of the Legislative council of Sverdlovsk district Igor Pan'kov; minister of culture of Sverdlovsk district Natalya Vetrova; the heads of the administrations of the Leninsky and Kirovsky districts; historians, art-historians, and journalists.

In his speech addressed to the guests, Metropolitan Vikentiy pointed out the significance of the exhibition as a step in the spiritual rebirth of the district. He thanked the employees of the museum for the preservation of the sacred objects during the years of Church persecutions. It is namely in the store-rooms of the Natural History museum where the relics of St. Simeon of Verkhoturye and the shrine with 25 parts of the relics of God's saints brought over by the first abbess of the abode Taisia to Ural in 1811, have been preserved.

Valeriy Ufimtsev, museum's director, pointed out that the exibition was made possible only due to the active team-work of the sisters and archival workers.

In addition to the displays from the last century, presented are the manufacture of the contemporary experts of the iconographic and sewing obediences. The exhibition is harmoniously completed with photographs representing the life of the abode today.

The exhibition excited a live interest of the visitors of different generations and professions. During these two months those who wish to visit the exhibition may do so from 10 am until 5 pm (closed on Sunday and Monday). Tour services have been organized. Special tours for monastics and priests will be organized. The ticket's prices are: 5 roubles for children and school students; 10 roubles for college students; 20 roubles for adults. The last Wednesday of every month pensioners are entitled to visit the exhibition for free (IDs are required).
